土木展 the civil engineering exhibition
21_21 DESIGN SIGHT にて開催中の土木展です。
おそらく土木と言われても一般の人からすればよくわからない領域です。
I went to the civil engineering exhibition at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in Tokyo.
People in Japan don't know much about civil engineering in general.
今回はその土木に焦点をあてた展示で、駅舎、橋梁、景観設計などを手掛ける
西村浩のディレクターで、建築家 内藤廣の企画協力を経て実現したものです。
The exhibition is produced by Hiroshi Nishimura, a designer of a stations,
bridges and landscapes, in cooperation with an architect Hiroshi Naito.
ヤマガミユキヒロ作の「六甲山からの眺望」という作品です。
モノクロの風景に刻々と変わる空が表現されています。
This work called "The view from Rokko mountain" is designed by Yukihiro Yamagami.
We can see the dynamics of changing colors.
非常に美しい作品です。
It is so beautiful. I was impressed.
渋谷、新宿、東京駅の図解です。
世界的にもまれな複雑すぎる駅。こうしてみるとますます難解です。
These works are the visualized stations in Japan.
Shibuya, Shinjuku and Tokyo station are so complicated.
It is difficult to understand the structure of the stations.
日本の高度経済成長を支えた土木の迫力の映像です。
時代の息吹を感じます。
The movie shows the development of civil engineering in Japan.
土木を支えてきた道具たち。
These are tools of civil engineering.
We can feel the power of humans hand,directly.
まるで旧石器時代の槍を見ているような感覚です。
As if we were in paleolithic age.
いつもは足元しか見ないマンホールの構造。
We usually see only the top of the man-hole.
The work shows us its structure.
この建物の設計は安藤忠雄氏。
ミニマルな空間が光と影を呼び込みます。
This museum was designed by Tadao Ando, the world's famous architect
from Japan. The minimal space introduces the lights and the shadows.
土木写真家 西山芳一氏の作品。
今回の展示で一番印象に残りました。
These are photographs of Houichi Nishiyama, a civil engineering
photographer.
The works introduces us the civil engineering technologies of Japan.
土木はこうしてみると一つの建築です。
I think the civil engineering is a kind of architecture.
渋谷駅の模型。
よくぞここまで作ったものだというくらいの複雑なものです。
This is the model of Shibuya station.
It is so complicated.
平の鉄板の形状を変えることで、強靭な構造へと変化します。
A flat steel changes the structure.
This shows us how powerful civil engineering is.
参加型インスタレーション。
人でもって土留めとして水の流れをせき止めます。
If a person stands in front of the screen, he can stop the waterfall.
土木は構造体として見えるものと、インフラとして地下や道路に埋め込まれて
いくものがあります。
As for the civil engineering, there are two different types of visualization.
One is visible and the other is invisible.
いまや世界に誇る日本の土木技術についてもっと知ってもいいのでは、と思います。
I think that more Japanese people should be familiar with our civil engineering
technologies,since this is something we should be proud of.
